He rose from the grave and is now seated in heaven at the right-hand side of God the Father. It was through death (over sin) that Jesus overcame death. Because Jesus never sinned, death could not hold Him. Why was Jesus Christ’s resurrection possible?īy never giving in to temptation, sin was “crucified” in Jesus’ life. “… who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness – by whose stripes you were healed. “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

“He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. “In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit.” “Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins …” On Good Friday, I received grace that I in no way deserve or can ever pay back: It means that if I believe in Him, all my sins will be forgiven. Jesus never had to atone for sins He had committed, but His death became the atonement for our sins.

He took upon Himself the punishment for the sins of the whole world, including all of your and my sin, and turned God’s fury against sin away from us! When Jesus was crucified on Calvary, He died, an innocent man, the only person in all history who did not deserve death. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to earth as the Son of Man, a human being like us – and in the strength of God’s Spirit, He lived a completely blameless, pure life on earth, overcoming all sin. Not only physical death, but also that our spirit is eternally separated from God, our Creator. Every single person who has ever lived on earth has sinned, and deserves to pay the penalty. These Bible verses show what Easter means for each of us, personally: What happened on Good Friday? Jesus Christ, the Son of Man, had indeed died, but had conquered death! An eternal, shining, new day of hope had dawned for all those who believe in Him. These momentous words spoken by an angel on Easter morning are some of the most significant ever spoken.
